The Teachers Were Wrong!!!

Can you please let the student know that we have shared the wrong Comparison document into their history folder. The Grandparent Era doc is now in their history folder . Only a few bits are different. They can ctrl+c and ctrl+v to the right sheet.
Don't stress if any problems. We can be very flexible tomorrow.
We appreciate the great conversation we are having with the kids about who and how they are contacting.

Our History Journey Begins

We officially began out colonial journey today. We are reading a beautiful book by Jackie French called - Tom Appleby - Colonial Boy.

Although our work centers around the history curriculum the work the students will do covers most curriculum areas. Hopefully they will show you the main document that they are working with in their Google drive and possibly they will bring you along for parts of the journey.
Homework over the next few weeks will have the student comparing life in different time periods and following up and researching topics and themes.

Every student will be able to delve into the topic at their own level, and the possibilities for learning are almost endless. We look forward to assessing the students effort and engagement along the way.

If you have the chance to talk to the students, relate to the topic and immerse them at home in any way we would appreciate the assistance.

Today we continued to look at the Author Jackie French and her loves, beliefs and difficulties in her career and life.

Week 2, Term 2

There will be no formal homework expectations this week although the Studyladder Naplan tasks will still be available.

We would however like you to watch the following two TED Talk videos and one youtube video with your child. Afterwards have a short (5 min?) discussion with them.

These following two speakers give us a glimpse of how learners are using technology to overcome problems, and some interesting ideas about where education might be heading. They both relate well to the Australian Technologies curriculum,.

Today we also watched a short video on Makey Makey.

What concepts do all these videos have in common?
