Week 6, Term 1

Drive Time
If any parents are wondering how we start the beginning of the day, please feel free to take a look at our Drive Time document.

Work due: Friday Week 6

This is a great example of last weeks simple homework expectations. Thank you Emily H

TIMES TABLES
This week's focus are the 5 & 8 times tables. Please create a quiz, crossword or puzzle for a peer.
Could be any type of challenge involving this weeks focus tables.

  • Crossword
  • Missing number quiz
  • Kahoot (if you know how)
  • Number Find (Like a word find but with numbers)

SPELLING
Complete your look, say, cover, write, check in their LSCWC small notebook.
The 4 boxes in their LSCWC book need to be completed by Thursday.
It is best that they complete a LSCWC on separate nights. Some kids have shown great improvement with a practice test also given by their parents on one night. Please get them to slip/staple any extra practice evidence into their book, to show us.(LSD)

READING
Read for ten minutes every night or twenty minutes three times in a week.
Please find a way to read to an animal in your house. (this does not mean a sibling)
Write a journal each week about your weeks reading. Please try to write an entry that details the developments over the week and be descriptive so that a person who has not read the text can clearly imagine the story. (In your LSCWC book by Friday morning)
You may want to include details like:
  • Character developments
  • Describing the setting
  • Plot changes
  • Predictions of future events
We will be asking students to share their journals throughout the weeks.

JAPANESE
Practise numbers 11-20. Test later in week for bonus$
Practice saying all hiragana sounds in order (a,i,u,e,o,ka,ki...) in preparation for small group choral speaking during Japanese lesson.

GEOGRAPHY (continued)
Collaborative Project (Due Week 8)
Students have begun working on their region research project in collaborative groups.
Each group has had a leader assigned who has had to share the resouce page and project slide. (Google Slide) (Groups are below)

We are working on each part of the presentation process and how to research over the next few weeks and plan on beginning the assessment process in Week 8 (all going to plan).
Please check out your child's Google drive and talk to them about how their group is doing and what they are up to. Of course we don't want parents doing the work but we are much more powerful if you are continuing to guide the students at home.

Below are links to examples of the documents.
